My Prayer - For a Friend

Psalm 41[a]
For the director of music. A psalm of David.

1 Blessed are those who have regard for the weak;
the LORD delivers them in times of trouble.
2 The LORD protects and preserves them—
they are counted among the blessed in the land—
he does not give them over to the desire of their foes.
3 The LORD sustains them on their sickbed
and restores them from their bed of illness.

4 I said, “Have mercy on me, LORD;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
5 My enemies say of me in malice,
“When will he die and his name perish?”
6 When one of them comes to see me,
he speaks falsely, while his heart gathers slander;
then he goes out and spreads it around.

7 All my enemies whisper together against me;
they imagine the worst for me, saying,
8 “A vile disease has afflicted him;
he will never get up from the place where he lies.”
9 Even my close friend,
someone I trusted,
one who shared my bread,
has turned[b] against me.

10 But may you have mercy on me, LORD;
raise me up, that I may repay them.
11 I know that you are pleased with me,
for my enemy does not triumph over me.
12 Because of my integrity you uphold me
and set me in your presence forever.

13 Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting.
Amen and Amen.

My First 5K

So I ran my first official 5K run/walk/race on Saturday, July 6, 2009. Just for the record, a 5K is approximately 3.1 miles. My time for the race was 31:56. This time is my second fastest time for a 5k run, which is interesting because I didn't feel i was running that fast.

So what next? There's a few more 5k's i want to run soon. In the meantime, I'm starting my training up to a 10k, then a half marathon. We'll see what happens.

Express Your Opinions To Your Elected Leaders

As a voting citizens of the United States, it is our responsibility to stay connected with those officials who represent us, both in the federal forum, as well as the state. I have found a website that makes it easy not only to write to our leaders (senators, representatives, the president), but also to see how many of these leaders vote. Here is the website:

http://www.congress.org

Please go there, write to your elected officials and ensure that they know the will of the people. If we sit back, we have no one but ourselves to blame for what comes down the legislative pipe. Be a responsible citizen of the United States of America.

Thanks, and God bless.

Why I'm using Blogger

So I know that this is a new blog. You may ask, why blogger? Here's the answer in short. It's more universal than MySpace. That is where I have most of my blogs. If you want to see what I have done in the past go to http://www.myspace.com/danielw45502. If you want to see what I'm doing now, subscribe to the blog. I'd appreciate the feedback.

April 17th, 2009 - A Month of Motorcycling

After getting my motorcycle license back in September 2008, I purchased my first (legal and running) motorcycle on March 12, 2009. I have ridden the motorcycle numerous times before, but today was one of the few "cruises". I had the wife on the back and we just rode. Although I still catch myself doing some boneheaded noob things, I definitely see myself being much more confident in my ability to ride.

Just one question...what's up with Medway? I have never seen a chicken outside of a coop, let alone crossing a road, but in Medway that's exactly what happened. Sometimes you just have to ride to ride, and the stories come on their own.
